January is officially in the books, and I can now say I survived this 365 project for an entire month. One-twelfth of the year! Woo hoo!! Last week was pretty eventful for me. First off, I had the great privilege to attend a newborn workshop in Ft. Worth by Erin Tole and Rachel Vanoven. For a Ft. Worth newborn photographer like myself, this is a dream come true and a huge highlight in my January calendar. I absolutely loved being around my tribe of newborn photographers, and having the chance to perfect my skills. Continual learning is so important in any profession, and I can’t wait to have my next newborn in the studio to implement some of the gems I learned. If you to see more behind the scenes images from my workshop, check it out here.
The day after the newborn workshop, my son had ear tube surgery. He has had ear infections on and off since Thanksgiving, so it wasn’t a surprise. This is our second round of tubes in his short life, and I hope it will be the last! Things went great and he was basically back to his mischievous self within a few hours, but no parent enjoys going under anesthesia. Another downside was having to wrestle this extremely strong 40 lb nugget to the ground like a writing alligator every morning and every night to put in his antibiotic ear drops during the recovery. Thankfully last night was the final dosage, so things should be A LOT calmer around here.
Here’s my Week 5!

28/366: My little muffin prepping for his ear surgery. The surgery wasn’t until 3pm in the afternoon, which means my boy couldn’t eat anything past 7:45 am or drink anything past 11:30am. I felt bad because around 11am he started asking for lunch and saying he was thirsty, but my hands were tied.

29/366: A little mid-afternoon bathtime. I doubt I can take bathtub photos much longer before it gets weird, but since this isn’t really showing anything I’m gonna give it the seal of approval.

30/366: A trip to IKEA on a Saturday afternoon. We live about 40 minutes from IKEA, so we made a day of it by visiting my grandma in Coppell first, then going to IKEA for our items and finishing the evening off by eating Mexican food with friends. I earned my margarita by enduring the people zoo of IKEA.
