Hey there buds! It’s Week 41 of my Project 365. That’s like an overcooked baby. Truthfully, this Project can feel like an overdue baby. A lot of days I feel like, “Ugh…what the heck am I going to photograph today??” I am totally lacking inspiration, and find myself phoning it in hard. I find that when it’s gloomy and rainy outside (like it’s been FOREVER) that I struggle the most. Also, my husband’s job tends to be more hectic from September-December, so I do a lot of solo parenting around this time of year. I think the rainy weather, coupled with loneliness makes it hard for me to feel enthusiasm for my project at times. But, then I’ll be on the treadmill or something and end up scrolling through the past several posts of my project, and I realize how awesome it is to have documented something from each day this year. It gives me just enough fuel to keep on trucking.

Spider man. I have never been very good at decorating for the holidays, but my son notices the Halloween decorations on the neighbors houses, and he really wants to make our house festive. So we got down the single box of holiday decorations, (like all the holidays fit in one single box…I know, I’m a holiday grinch), and put up this spider and some DIY ghosts in the tree. That’s about all I can muster for Halloween people. It’s just a single day of the year. At least Christmas is an entire season.

Holden tried his first candy apple in hopes of coaxing out his first wiggly tooth. The apple was a hit, but the tooth is still holding firm.

If you want some real life, here it is. My boy being carted to swim lessons. He forgot to wear a shirt in the car, but whatever. He did manage to grab a snack and his reading homework, so overall I’m counting it as a win.

Sweet Baby J doing laps around the house. A quick pit stop for his water sippy cup and then he’s off again.

Saturday morning had a distinctly dumpster fire feel to it. Baby J had been acting super fussy the past couple days, and I chalked it up to teething. Then, he developed some new symptoms that made my alarm bells go off for an ear infection. Tylenol wasn’t cutting it, so I loaded up the munchkins and went to urgent care in the middle of a monsoon. As it turned out, J did have an ear infection so at least my trouble was for a good cause, but it was raining so hard I really started to get scared about driving. We made it home, and then rallied in the afternoon to attend my sister’s 30th birthday party. H loved playing the giant Jenga in the garage. We also plopped ourselves in my sister’s living room and watched an amazing LSU game. Overall, what started as a rather dumpy Saturday ended up pretty decent.

The sun came out for approximately 3 hours on Sunday, and we spent every second of that at the park. Thank goodness, because the day after this photo was taken, a giant cold front came through dipping temps into the low 40s. It’s also been a monsoon since that point as well, so I’m very glad I squeezed in some park time for the boys.

Enjoyed a Halloween cookie decorating class with my sister. Clearly, my cookies could use improvement, but this is worlds above my normal crafting/baking skill level. Plus, these cookies were darn right tasty. Any guesses how many are left 24 hours later?

Look at me! I put some pumpkins around my house for decoration. I think I’m getting the hang of this festive thing.
