If I look away for a second, this boy is all over that Christmas tree. He has successfully rearranged all the ornaments within his reach, as well as opened a few gifts when my back is turned. He is a Christmas rascal. Oh wait, he’s also an every day rascal.

We allowed my oldest son to open his birthday gifts the evening before his actual birthday because my husband would be out of town for work. He had a great time with his new Nerf target, and little brother was very curious too.

My baby boy on his 7th birthday. It was a bit of a hectic day as my husband was out of town and I had to juggle a pretty full slate by myself. H had his winter school party that morning, followed by early dismissal. We opened grandparent gifts, then I took him and his brother out for pizza. We spent the afternoon visiting the miniature Christmas train exhibit at a local church, made a pit stop at the library to pick up our holds before Christmas, and then had dinner and a mini cake. Lastly, I took Holden to his Boy Scout Christmas pack meeting and book exchange. It was exhausting and wonderful. I love this sweet, silly, smarty pants of a boy. It was a chaotic day, but I know he felt loved and that made the crazy all worth it.

Enjoying our family tradition of driving around looking at Christmas lights. We picked up a tub of popcorn from the movie theater and snacked on that and hot chocolate during our adventure. I also added Christmas light bingo this year–such a fun idea I stole from a mommy friend. For the grand finale, we visited this beautiful house which even had a live reindeer and Santa for the kids! Okay, who am I kidding–I was kind of excited about seeing a live reindeer as well.

Is there even a point in making cookies if you don’t lick the beater?

A special Mommy/boy date at Taste Buds Kitchen. Constructing a gingerbread house is so fun, but I hate the mess. This is a perfect solution–Tastebuds has everything ready to go and then we can just enjoy the fun part.
