That week was quick!! This DFW baby photographer feels like it was just week 16 yesterday, so I’m not sure how I am sitting here posting week 17 of my Project 365 already.
So, we’ve been up to the regular things. Just living life and enjoying the “spring”-ish weather before it turns to melt your face off season in Texas. A big part of my week was spent living like a pioneer. In the past few days I’ve had my microwave go out, the dryer is busted, my car is in the shop and the hot water heater is acting up. Thankfully, all of these items can be repaired or replaced, but it will take a few days for everything to be resolved. In the meantime I am basically roughing it in my own house. If this is what camping is like, count me out. I want a hot shower, clean (and dry!) clothes, and I want my food warm in 30 seconds or less. #spoiled #firstworldproblems

What is it about kids and boxes? We received a large package, and both boys were quickly obsessed with the box. H made it a ‘boys only’ fort. I felt bad eventually tossing the box, but it stayed in my living room for over a week!!

One part of parenthood that I don’t think anyone is ever prepared for is the amount of noise. Maybe it’s a boy thing, but there is a constant cacophony of fart noises, screeching, incessant questions about literally EVERYTHING and whining. The only thing that brings relief to the noise is reading. If the decibel level is getting too high for my liking, I throw some books at H and he will become totally engrossed and silent. At least one kid being peaceful quiet makes a huge difference. Thank you books, I owe you one!!

I’m fairly certain Magnatiles have featured in my 365 already. My boy received these as a gift years ago–probably 3 or 4 years ago–and he is still in love with them. This probably won’t be the last time I photograph him with this toy over the course of this project. He plays all the time, and they are such fun for all ages. The nice Magnatiles are a bit pricey, but I promise they are worth every penny.

Well, that was quick. Texas spring morphed into summer overnight. It was in the 80s on Friday, so we had an impromptu family popsicle party. Mostly, I wanted to try out the Pampered Chef Quicksicle maker I received as a gift over Easter. Can I just say I am super impressed with this piece of kitchen magic?? Like, no mess and popsicles in 10 minutes? Also, I generally subscribe to a low carb/low sugar lifestyle, so I am having all kinds of fun experimenting with making no sugar added Greek yogurt bars in various flavors. It brings my low carb dessert game to a new level. I have been adapting a lot of popsicles recipes from Pinterest to meet my needs, so you can check those out if you want to be inspired.

Baby J getting in on the book loving tradition. At this point, he enjoys throwing the books off his shelf more than reading them, but you know.

Oh, this little boy is so much trouble. Having a 5.5 year age gap between my kids has meant readjusting to that baby life. It is maddening watching this little guy’s every move, making sure he doesn’t choke on decorative objects, get bitten by a dog or eat brothers toys. I also think J is much more adventurous than his brother was at this age–or at least more a climber. We have to keep a vigilant eye on this one for sure.
