Summer is coming to a close for this DFW newborn photographer. I’ve got three weeks before the boy heads back to school. I think most of the other schools in our area go back in two weeks, and I’m just gonna say I’m pretty jealous. Then I have tons of friends in Louisiana whose kids are already back in school and I’m like, “WHAT????!!!!”
Seriously, it is a huge blessing to be able to be home with my son so much of the time. A tremendous blessing really, and I hate to sound like I don’t realize or appreciate it. It’s just (and I think most stay at home/work at home/ really any kind of parent, understands) that my energy tank is empty. I can love my boy and my family all day to the moon and back, but at some point I need a little space from the noise and the chaos to recharge my own battery so I can perform to the best of my abilities as a mother and a wife. My tank is close to being on E…truthfully, these dog days of August are probably just me running on fumes. But, we’ve only got three weeks left and I just keep chanting that it’s almost over and in a few weeks I’ll be sitting here in the quiet to do my work and I will feel lonely and bored.
Here’s a few of my exploits over the past week.
DFW Newborn Photographer | Project 365 | Week 32

214/366: Tried my hand at Pinteresting with these frozen S’mores.

215/366: My boy earned a trip to Chuck E Cheese for his hard work in reading. Aunt Coco and Uncle Chad decided to come as well, so it was pretty exciting for the little dude. Kind of like a miniature party. This was his first time to a place like this, and it was a little overwhelming. I was shocked at how many of the machines are electronic—they even got rid of Whac-a-mole!! Also, Holden’s favorite piece of entertainment was the machine that counts your tickets.

216/366: While I totally think pool time counts as a bath, we still manage to take a scrub a dub dub every now and then.

217/366: 100 days of summer. Swimming edition.

218/366: Portrait of a boy swimming, part dos.

219/366: Indoor fun with Magnatiles. Easily my son’s favorite toy, never loses its luster.

220/366: Just got in a new set of business cards! I love these so much, they are such a step up from my old ones which just featured my logo. First of all, the touch quality is pretty jazzy, but my favorite aspect is that I was able to choose several different fronts and thus featured many of my H Parker Photography babies.
