I spent the majority of Week 16 visiting the family farm in Evening Shade, Arkansas. I traveled with my son, my grandma, and my dad to visit my great uncle. As a child I often visited the farm with my whole family—sisters, grandparents, parents, aunt/uncle and cousins. I have so many lovely memories from those times, and I was excited to return and share some of that experience with my son. Plus, it is always refreshing to escape suburbia and be surrounded by the quiet of nature. And cows.
My husband stayed behind for work, and he also decided to use the time apart to engage in a re-tiling home reno project. That project remains incomplete. Actually, I jest. The tiling project IS incomplete, but I want to give proper praise to my husband for all his hard work. It is just too big of a project for one man, and he is doing his very best to plug away at it. We are getting to a state of normalcy where I can access the kitchen area at least. The only downside is that while he finishes the remainder of the project we are left with unsealed travertine which tracks dust EVERYWHERE. So thankful to have a handy husband who is willing and able to do all these home reno projects, so a public shout-out to his amazingness as he continues to work his fingers to the bone getting this done.

/366: Lunch break on the drive to Arkansas.

/366: The dogwoods are blooming in Arkansas. It was so beautiful to see them dotting the hillsides. This dogwood is actually in the front yard at the farm, so I had to get a good close up. Wish I’d had my macro lens with me!! The bottom photo is golden hour overlooking the pasture.

/366: My lil guy got to ‘drive’ the tractor with Uncle Ray! He was soooo excited.

/366: Headed back home. Why do car trips always feel so much longer headed home?

/366: The tile project continues. Holden got out his tools to help daddy.

/366: Our house was in a huge state of disarray when I returned home, thanks to the tiling project. I am so grateful to have a husband who is willing and able to work on that, but the level of dust in our house is crazy! My little guy tried his best to help curb the dusty mess by removing his shoes, but clearly that is a losing battle.

/366: My boy LOVES fans. Like, the way some kids love candy or princesses is the way my son loves fans. He has been fascinated by them since he was only months old. I have no explanation, but every time he sees a fan he absolutely MUST watch it. He loves them so much that we actually have to hide the box fans because otherwise he will steal them and cart them all around the house playing with them. Charlie has been using a box fan in the garage lately as he works on the tile, and Holden found it. See that lil’ tongue sticking out? He is so full of joy. Also, tiling makes a lot of trash.

/366: Snack attack. The beagle is our resident snack stealer, and Holden knows it. Love that face as he gives beagle the stare down.
