Trophy Club Newborn Photographer | Transformation Tuesday

Welcome to 2015!

I’d love to kick-off the New Year with a little Transformation Tuesday! This is all about my transformation over the past couple years as a photographer.

I have come leaps and bounds since I first began photography when my son was born. Back then it was just a hobby and I mainly photographed by son and the children and families of my friends as a portfolio building experience.

I always want to challenge myself and I am never completely satisfied, but I can say that I am proud of where I’m at right now and trying to enjoy the creative experience. The journey of what I want my work to be is never-ending. I am constantly taking online courses, analyzing the work of photographers I admire, and practicing, practicing, practicing. I invest a lot of time and money into my continuing education. In fact, the next big thing on my horizon is a mentorship with Silver Bee Photography in February! I can’t wait to learn more about newborns, posing and get to pick the brain of someone whose work I am inspired and motivated by.

The truth is that even though I am pleased with my progress, there is so much out there for me to keep learning. I am always brushing up my skills in posing, composition, lighting (natural and studio), business management, inspiration, etc.

Thank you to all the clients who have been with me since the very beginning and who have experienced this growth with me. Here’s a glimpse at my personal transformation Tuesday:

Both of these sessions were taken at Bear Creek Park in Keller, about 2 years apart. It’s amazing to see my growth when looking back at images from the same location over time.

One of my first ever maternity sessions compared against a more recent one. These were both taken at the Bob Jones Nature Center in Southlake.

One of my very first newborns on bottom with one of my more recent little ones. I think I have grown the most in this area! Newborns are so tricky and there is a lot more to this type of photography than meets the eye.

Trophy Club Newborn Photographer | Miss A

January 1, 2015

Miss A was the last session of my 2014 year. She visited my residential studio in Roanoke, TX. I think everyone involved will agree that Miss A was not super happy about having her photos taken–she really just wanted to be held by her mama and that was that. It took some time and snuggles, but in the end we got Miss A to sleep and captured some beautiful images. Miss A is the first granddaughter for this family, and her mommy brought lots of fun girly goodies to try out.

She looks so precious and peaceful that one would never guess she gave us a run for the money.

Happy New Years Eve to all my H. Parker Photography buds! It’s been a great year to be a DFW photographer.

In total, I’ve had 126 sessions this year! Thank you for keeping me busy and letting me do something that is so fun. I am truly blessed.

This has been a tremendous year for me personally and professionally. I wrapped 2014 with a precious newborn girl earlier this week and now I have about two weeks off to focus on family, the holidays and tackle some much-needed behind the scenes work.

I am so grateful to all of you who support my photography, either as a client, writing me sweet notes of encouragement or by simply clicking “like” on a Facebook image. It means a ton, and I thank you for growing my tiny business into much more than I imaged it ever could be.

Here’s a new year of awesomeness!!

Trophy Club Baby Photographer | Miss E, Four Months

Miss E visited this morning for her four month session. She is on my “Baby Steps” plan, meaning I get the pleasure of photographing her every few months during her first year of life. I also did her brother’s newborn photos and first year not too long ago, so it is really cool to witness both of these little ones growing up.

At four months, baby is pretty content to lie on their belly, play on their back or sit in a bucket. I guarantee by our next session Miss E will likely be crawling or close to it and won’t let us have anything to do with stuffing her in a bucket, so I’m glad we got that squishy girl in there while there is still time.

This little man visited me yesterday morning for his newborn session, and I already have some adorable images that I couldn’t resist sharing. He took a bit of soothing, but once Mr. G was in zzzzz-land he was an angel for his photos.

In addition to shots of Mr. G by himself, I was also able to capture some of the first images of this family of three.

Trophy Club Family Photographer | Mr. E, 1st Birthday

I haven’t seen Mr. E since his newborn photos last December, and of course he is now a mini-man. This little dude still has a few weeks until his 1st birthday, yet he showed up for our photo session toddling around. Slow it down Mister!

I met Mr. E and his parents for family photos/first birthday/cake smash photos at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. They are my last outdoor session for 2014 as the weather is starting to get too cold and unpredictable. It was a bit drizzly when we all showed up for the session, but things cleared and it turned out to be a beautiful fall, crisp day. I think Mr. E was a big fan of all the fallen leaves. He may have ingested a little bit of leaf during that cake smash. I mean, what goes better with cake than leaves?? hehe.

Trophy Club Baby Photographer | Miss E 1st Birthday

Miss E visited my residential studio in Roanoke this morning for her first birthday photos. I love that her mom brought along a vintage rocking chair (it was mom’s as a child)–family heirloom pieces like that are always so fun to incorporate into a shoot.

Miss E gets a gold star for her crawling, as she wanted to explore everything in the studio. She was in good spirits though and I especially enjoyed watching her during her cake smash. So many babies just stare at their cakes feeling unsure about what to do, but Miss E dug right in and definitely threw a fit when cake time was over. I had to post a preview of her with her little tongue sticking out–it made me giggle.

Trophy Club Newborn Photographer | Baby B

Oh my goodness–Baby B was a perfect angel for me this morning as she visited my residential studio in Roanoke, TX for her newborn photos. She was such a squishy, sleepy little baby and I am so excited to go through her images. In fact, I couldn’t resist and went ahead and edited a few as a quick sneak peek right after her session. Lucky me that it’s my job to stay inside in the winter snuggling newborn babies!

I also wanted to give some props to her mama for making sure to book her newborn session a few months in advance. This is a crazy busy time of year for photographers (it’s basically like what tax season is to accountants). I always suggest choosing your newborn photographer during the second trimester–that way you have plenty of time to do research and figure out what you really want from your session. Plus, I can only take about 4 newborns a month due to potential scheduling conflicts (that’s the thing about babies–you never know when they will decide to show up!). Miss B’s mama did a fabulous job in getting on the books during this busy holiday season.

This little guy visited my studio in Roanoke yesterday morning for newborn photos. He is absolutely precious and I am totally gushing over all his beautiful images.

I found it pretty cool that his parents actually live in my neighborhood–neither of us knew this when his Mom first contacted me about photos, so that was a happy coincidence that I got to make friends with some neighbors!

Baby J was an angel. In fact, I escaped without being pooped on—a major accomplishment when talking about a 3 hour newborn session. He was even kind enough to let me dress him in hats and booties without waking up. He was a trooper!

October 22, 2014

Baby C visited yesterday morning for his newborn photos. He was originally due in early October, but didn’t feel like making an appearance until last week. Staying true to his stubborn nature, he was not really feeling the calm and sleepy thing for his session. Of course, we were still able to capture many beautiful images and some great family shots–but the good news is that Mom is going to bring Baby C out again next week so we can get a few bonus images. In the meantime, he’s a quick sneak peek:
