My 4th Stitchfix box arrived last week! I had just returned from vacation, and my intention was to reschdule this fix because honestly I don’t really need any clothes right now. I still haven’t worn some of the items purchased in my last fix, because they were mostly for cool weather and fall didn’t show up until this week. Long story short, I forgot to reschedule the fix and it showed up a few days post vacation. Real quick, if you haven’t heard of StitchFix yet, here’s the deal: This is an online styling service where you fill out a profile, pay a $20 styling fee and then receive five pieces of apparel in the mail. You are encouraged to keep a Pinterest board with StitchFix inspiration for your stylist and to provide lots of feedback and notes. The $20 styling fee is automatically applied to anything you purchase from your box. If you decide to purchase all five items then you get a 25% discount off every item. You have three business days to try on your clothes and then you return anything you don’t want to buy in a pre-paid envelope and send it right on back where it came from. I just started a StitchFix account over the summer after hearing positive reviews from friends. You can check out how I felt about Box #1, Box #2 and Box #3. This month I requested dresses for fall/winter that would be church and family picture appropriate. I also asked for a pair of leggings or black denim and a scarf. Here’s my little fashion show of items! Harlyn Solna Woven Dot Blazer My Pinterest account is full of blazers right now. I love the idea of blazers—they make you look so polished and preppy! In fact, I love blazers so much that I bought the 41 Hawthorn Benson ¾ ruched sleeve blazer in my last fix. I’m a stay at home mom and photographer, so I really only need one blazer in my life and I’ve already committed. It seems like a boo-boo on the part of Stitchfix to send me a blazer two boxes in a row. I tried it on for fun and I am still happy that I purchased the blazer from my last fix as I felt it was more slimming and classic. Verdit: Returned Margaret M Emer High Waisted Trouser These pants are kind of like workwear yoga pants. I’d heard a lot about them on StitchFix review forums (some people think these are the bees knees and other people bemoan their quality). I do not own any black pants, so I was glad my stylist included them. Plus, I really liked how they slipped on like yoga pants but weren’t transparent like leggings. Sadly, I think I am too short for this particular brand of pant. They sagged around the knees. Plus, I realized there is a reason I don’t own a lot of black and that’s because I find it boring. Verdict: Returned Look by M Sammie Plaid Infinity Scarf Another item I requested in this fix was a scarf. I am always so envious of chic women who can wear scarves and get away with it. Scarves provide texture and color to an otherwise drab outfit. I am always counseling my photography clients to wear scarves for that very purpose. However, upon trying this on I felt it really swallowed my neck. I may just not have the body type for scarves, or perhaps I am putting them on wrong because I have never met a scarf that I feel looks good on me. I loved the pattern and the feel of this item, but it just wasn’t me. Verdict: Returned Pixley Ohara Faux Wrap Tie-Waist Dress This is by far the least favorite thing I have ever received from StitchFix. The stylist urged me to wear this with leggings and boots as a church outfit for the fall/winter. I didn’t even bother styling it that way for photos because it felt like a spring dress to me. The fabric was very flimsy, almost transparent. Plus, this was a wraparound dress but the tie was missing from my box! Even if I had loved this dress I couldn’t have kept it because the tie was missing. Major fail StitchFix. I’m not saying the dress isn’t flattering—I’m looking at the photo and I feel like wraparound dresses are good for my body. However, I just wasn’t digging the fabric and the pattern was too spring-inspired and too whimsical for me. Verdict: Returned 41Hawthorn Dita Sleeveless Ponte Dress Another dress option in my latest box, this is a very simple navy blue dress. I do not usually like scoop necklines, but I felt that this one worked for me. I paired it with a Target mustard cardigan to bring in a pop of color. I liked the weight of this dress, the simplicity and the way it falls on my body. Verdict: Kept This fix wasn’t my favorite—only a 1/5. However, I’ve had great success in the past few boxes and I am excited to try this service again in the future. I will probably not be posting over the winter as I feel that my fall/winter wardrobe is complete and don’t anticipate ordering anything else until the spring.
