Bluebonnets—they’re kind of a big deal. Even though I am primarily a Ft Worth newborn photographer and Ft Worth baby photographer, I like to leave the studio behind sometimes and go out in nature. Every year I make my little guy sit in these beautiful wildflowers for portraits. Don’t let this handsome face fool you—there is lots of bribery involved.

We had an almost non-existent winter, so I was expecting great things of the 2016 bluebonnet season and it was kind of a bust. The usual spots just weren’t blooming, so I ended up settling for a small patch down the street. To see what I’m talking about, check out 2015 and 2014. The bluebonnets may have been a little lame this year, but I always enjoy getting some shots of my boy. I’ve heard bluebonnets go in 5 year cycles, and I know 2011 was basically the best year ever so I’ve got my fingers crossed for 2017.
