DFW BABY PHOTOGRAPHER | WEEK 15

April 16, 2018

One of my resolutions for week 15 was to be present in at least one photograph. I was able to get the husband to snap a photo of me and my eldest boy, so that was exciting. It seems unbelievably difficult for this DFW baby photographer to get a selfie on my DSLR. I have used a tripod and remote in the past, but now that baby J is crawling he just attacks the camera stand right away. So, I have to rely on my husband and that is asking a lot. The guy can fly multi-million dollar jet planes but when I ask him to snap a photo something always seems to go awry.

Hopefully I can continue to make being in the photo myself a priority, because I certainly enjoy having those images.

Kiwi crate day! Little guy working with his daddy on his latest Kiwi Crate box. The monthly Kiwi crate subscription is a Christmas gift from Gigi and Grandpa Devin. Definitely a great gift for kids because they get something every single month and it gives him a fun, learning oriented project.

Pie!! Celebrated my dad’s birthday with steaks and some chocolate chip pie. It was my first time to try Buttermilk Sky Pie in Colleyville. The pie did not disappoint and you should definitely stop in if you’re in the area. Hope to be a more frequent visitor.

FT WORTH NEWBORN BABY PHOTOGRAPHER | WEEK 14

Week 14 of this Ft Worth newborn baby photographers Project 365 is in the books. I have loved having some spring weather, but Mother Nature is being rather moody and keeps flip flopping it between 75 and freezing. It’s kind of throwing me off. Over the weekend, our temps plummeted from the 80s into the 30s, so I had to bring all my plants into my bathroom. It was like a jungle in there, and I wish I had gotten a decent photo! It was all fun and games, until you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and trip on a bougainvillea.

Not much exciting to report from the last week. Mostly business as usual. Baby J continues to excel at crawling and we are baby proofing things as he destroys them. We are trying to enjoy the warmer days (when they happen) with lots of park time and spending time in our backyard.

My husband seems to feature prominently in this week’s set of photos. He travels significantly for work, but it is often a feast or famine situation where he is traveling in overdrive mode or home for a week solid. This past week was on the lighter side, so we enjoyed his company a number of days and that is clearly reflected in my images from the week.

My crawling pro is everywhere now. We have a gates on the stairs, but he clearly has feels about not being able to climb on up just like everyone else in the house.

H enjoying a TV program after school. He is armed with the remote, his snack and, most important of all, his Rex. Rex is Holden’s lovey and has been with him since around six months. He chews on Rex’s tail so much that it eventually disintegrated and we had to sew on a new tail made of washcloth material.

There is not a lot this baby will sit still for anymore, but he loves his banana toothbrush. Give him that thing and he will happily sit in your lap for snuggles for about 3 minutes. That is about all you can ask for with this one.

It’s the day after Easter, and my children and I are suffering from a sugar hangover. I feel so bad for all the teachers that have to deal with post sugar coma kids today. Why doesn’t spring break fall over Easter? Or at the very least, rather than giving children Good Friday off, why not the day following Easter? It’s a mystery to me why things are the way things are, but God bless those poor teachers today (and every day, really.)

Anyway, this Ft Worth newborn photographer had a very eventful weekend. In exciting news, my husband had a flight cancel and ended up being home for the entirety of Easter weekend. As a result, he got to participate in all of our holiday festivities. That is never a guarantee when you are an aviation family, so we cherish every time he gets to be home for any holiday or major event.

Baby vs. Roomba. The first part of the week was a soggy mess, so we were stuck inside. I can only entertain the munchkins for so long before mutiny is afoot. So, my bright idea was to kill two birds with one stone–it got the house clean AND provided exercise and entertainment for the baby. #momboss #winning

Rain, rain go away. All I know is that the walks to school last week were yucky and wet. I couldn’t wait to get back home and get toasty and dry, but this fellow was all about dancing in the rain. Sometimes, you have to let them be little.

FT WORTH NEWBORN BABY PHOTOGRAPHER | WEEK 12

It’s gloomy and humid outside and this Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is feeling a little blah today. Am I the only person whose outlook on life is this dramatically impacted by the weather? I seriously can’t stand rainy, cloudy days. They make me feel lonely and bored and magnify every annoyance. I haven’t been working as much since I have my own baby to attend to, and that might be one of the reasons why I feel so glum. It is a tremendous blessing to be at home with my children, but it is also incredibility monotonous and isolating.

Anyway, this Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is on Week 12 of my Project 365. Maybe that’s part of my grumpiness too. I love seeing the results of my Project 365, but sometimes I am just not in the mood to deal with the camera. I know from my past Project 365 that these kind of moods come and go, so I just need a little inspiration to kick start me again. I’m still plugging away at it, but I definitely keep doing these last second, “ooops…I forgot to take a photo day, let me hurry and snap something!!” moments. I prefer having the camera with me at all times and then snapping when the moment is right, the lighting is best, etc. But that’s not the place I’m in at the moment, and I guess I need to find a way to get over the hump.

It is so hard to get anything of me with my kids. Thankful to the hubs for snapping this of me and baby J playing in the bonus room. Not the best photo, as little J’s hand is a blurry mess. But, we are together and that makes it beautiful in my sight.

Putting away his own laundry. Right now this guy is mostly responsible for putting away his own laundry and unloading the dishwasher. He occasionally helps with dusting, yardwork and cleaning the windows. I know his daddy is looking forward to when the boys get old enough to the mow the grass. They’re six years apart, so he expects that when the eldest goes to college and ‘retires’ from lawn duty that he will have another son waiting in the wings. My personal mission to is to teach the boys to do laundry and cook, so I can also have a little chore crew as well. Who said boys can only mow??

This Ft Worth newborn baby photographer and her kiddos survived Spring Break 2018!! At the beginning of the week, I was really looking forward to having my big boy home with me for 9 days and soaking up some family time. My husband is a pilot, and he had some trips pop up unexpectedly, so he was gone the majority of spring break, leaving me and the kiddos to make our own fun at home. I am so thankful for good weather, as this allowed us to get outside and go to the park every single day. I’m not much for crowded places like the zoo, and I’m grateful my children are just as happy with a Lunchable at the park as they are with any of those excursions. Kuddos to all you moms who braved the spring break madness and toted your children to the museums, zoos and aquariums. You are crazy, and amazing.

Another day, another park visit. This time to the “fancy” park with the sandbox and the zipline. This was about as people-zooish as I was willing to engage in. I think the entire city was at the park that day, but we survived.

Judd’s first haircut. I hated having to snip his little locks before age 1, but it was time. He has very thin hair, and when a breeze picks it up he looks a lot like Donald Trump. It was time.

Your Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is so excited that spring break is here! Granted, in about two days I will probably be dying for school to be back in session, but at the moment I am rejoicing because my big boy is home to spend all the days with his mama.

We don’t have any major plans. It’s hard to have plans with you are part of an aviation family. If you’re one of us, you get it. If not, I will spare you the boredom. Suffice it to say, the best approach to happiness when you are married to a pilot is to never make plans…ever. Cheers to flying by the seat of our pants this Spring Break! Let’s see what adventures await.

I am so pleased that Holden is still enamored with his little brother. I thought the honeymoon period would be over by now, and the whole having a sibling thing would have simmered down. I was totally wrong, as Holden continues to be obsessed with his brother. He loves to make him laugh, show him new toys and teach him things. So cute together.

And, he’s off! This little guy started legit crawling in the last week or so. He is everywhere now!! His favorite thing to do is chase balls and plastic cups around the floor. Why buy kids toys when a plastic cup will apparently do the trick? His toys often find themselves underneath the couch, and I love this shot of my munchkin peeking under the sofa hunting for his lost toy.

My son deserved a treat for some hard work, and he chose to get an Oonie. I’m not really sure how to describe this contraption, but it is a THING for kids nowadays. I’m guessing these are one of those things kids are obsessed with and then in 20 years they will wax nostalgic about it. Kind of like my generation with Tamagotchi pets.

FT WORTH NEWBORN BABY PHOTOGRAPHER | WEEK 9

This Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is dancing a happy dance this morning as I can totally feel spring creeping into the picture. The last few weeks have been Noah’s arc level soggy, but today the sun is shining bright, the birds are chirping and I am able to see spring on the horizon. So glad I’m a lifelong Texan girl and that I can grumble about an eight week long “winter”. I don’t know how you Northern kids do it.

Anyway, the following pictures document Week 9 of my Project 365. Not much exciting to report. Like I said, things were a bit damp outside and we were confined to the house. Oh, I take that back! We did have one major event, which is that baby J decided to full on crawl last week. He has been doing the whole army crawling thing for awhile now, but wasn’t getting anywhere fast. He stayed in that “baby on a blanket” mode for a solid 2 or 3 months, and it was awesome. I love that golden age of babyhood where they can sit and are not yet mobile. That is always when I suggest family’s do a sitter session with their little one. It is such a precious, fleeting age and makes the most adorable photos!

Anyway, something clicked with little J, and he decided it was time to legit crawl. Now he is a speed demon around the house. I should have been prepared. I had ample time and I could have worked on child proofing, but I totally didn’t. Now I’m chasing him around the house keeping him alive day by day until I can get a master plan together on how to better baby proof.

Waited 30 minutes in the CVS pharmacy drive through. My big boy had strep throat, so I kind of had no choice but to wait. I didn’t want to drag his miserable self in the store and expose everyone to the germies. Thus, we waited in this sad ass line for half an hour. I like to think of myself as a patient person, but when I’ve waited half an hour and I get to the front of the line and my antibiotics haven’t even been shaken up, then I think I’m entitled to be a bit fussy.

I am constantly in awe of how much Holden loves his little brother. I worried some about them having a such a large age gap, but right now it’s wonderful. Holden delights in every new skill his brother learns. Right now, we are entering the crawling phase and Holden loves to cheer his brother on. It’s adorable and melts my mamma heart.

This Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is waiting for Noah to show up with his arc any day now. Seriously, we returned from a trip to Louisiana…land of constant drizzle and humidty….to be welcomed by the monsoon of 2018.

My pictures probably reflect how over it I am. We were basically stuck inside every single day last week. The lighting in my house was horrible due to the outside gloom and doom. My attitude after a multi-day rain event was in the toilet. My children’s attitudes were in the toilet. So, not a lot of inspired work follows in this post, but I guess I can technically say I stayed on the Project 365 wagon and got it done.

Holden had a running fundraiser for his school. He was so pumped. I think this kid ran the entire 30 minutes solid. Wish I had that kind of enthusiasm for running in a circle.
