‘Tis the season, and the Parker household is in full Christmas swing. I’m not really one for a ton of decorations–pretty much if it can’t be put together in less than two days I’m not really up for the challenge. However, I couldn’t resist taking pictures of all the sparkles with my new macro lens! I got this baby a few weeks ago as part of my newborn photography arsenal. It had been on my wish list for over a year, so it was a big and exciting purchase. The purpose of a macro lens is to reproduce a life-sized image of an object on the camera’s image sensor. Cutting out the jargon, it basically means you can take photos really, really up close. This is great for newborns when capturing those teeny, tiny toes and beautiful long lashes. I can’t wait to try this bad boy out on my next studio newborn (whose coming in Wednesday!), but I definitely wanted to get some practice in over the weekend, so I ended up photographing our tree and my gingerbead house. Please don’t be fooled by the bossness that is my gingerbread house. I attended a gingerbread workshop at Tastebuds Kitchen in Southlake last week with my sisters. You may recall that I did some photos for Tastebuds when they first opened earlier this year. This was my first chance to take a class with them though, and it was so much fun! I think the whole BYOB and gingerbread decorating thing can be a new tradition. Normally if I attempted a gingerbread house it will be a crumbly, gooey mess but Tastebuds had everything set up for us and pre-made icing and houses so it was pretty manageable for me and really took my gingerbread house to a new level.
