As a Ft Worth newborn baby photographer, it has been great fun photographing my own little baby these past few months. I know I probably overkill it with sharing photos of my sweetie, but they are only this little once so a mama’s gonna do what a momma’s gonna do.

I have loved taking his monthly photo and putting all his stats on there. I can’t wait until the end of his first year to look back on all those baby milestone sessions and really take in just how much he has grown.

The biggest milestone of the past month is that my baby boy sprouted his two bottom teeth. Not gonna lie, those chompers have been causing some havoc over here. I either mentally blocked out the teething hell from my first child, or else Judd just has a really low tolerance for pain. In fact, my older son built himself an indoor pillow and blanket fort over the weekend that he deemed it a “survival fort” where whining babies weren’t allowed. A whine free zone. I need a whine free pillow tent too, kid. Can mommy come inside??? Ugh.

Anyway, other than teething my baby is a precious, chunky, squeezable, squishable love bug and we are so happy he is part of our family.

This Ft Worth newborn baby photographer is kind of in a grumpy mood this week as I’ve been running the parenting show solo for awhile while my husband is out of town. However, yesterday was totally brightened when this beautiful baby girl visited my Roanoke studio for a baptism gown mini session.

Miss E’s mommy and I are friends from church, and our babies are just three months apart. There must be something in the water at Fellowship UMC Trophy Club because quite a few of us have babies under 18 months. For me, one of the most important aspects of a church is that it be a place where children are surrounded by a community of peers who share their faith. I have definitely found that at Fellowship, and I am so excited to watch Miss E (and all the church babies) as they grow up together.

This dedication gown belonged to Baby E’s mommy (and I believe her aunt too), which I absolutely love. Such beautiful detailing, and such a timeless, classic look. If only boy baptism outfits were this adorable!!

Also, I would like to point out that this little lady has red hair and I can already tell she is going to be trouble for her parents, like a proper preacher’s child. Enjoy the photos of Baby E!

Ft Worth Newborn Baby Photographer | Week 5

As a Ft Worth newborn baby photographer, one of things I have enjoyed most about this Project 365 is trying out different types of lighting. I traditionally stay in my Roanoke, TX studio for newborn and baby portraiture, and that works great for me and what I offer my clients. However, it is fun to practice getting out there a bit in real world situations.

I now catch myself observing the light. I know what time of day the sun comes in best in the different rooms of my house; I know where the sun sits in the sky during our traditional afternoon park visit, etc. It is really fascinating to notice my brain begin to analyze in that way, and I look forward to growing more and more over the next few months.

This week closed out January and started up February. It’s a big milestone to have stuck with this project for an entire month. I can’t say I would consider even a fraction of my work to be “good,” but at least I’m following through. The best part is that I should have a huge collection of our everyday moments for an heirloom. I am seriously trying to notice every little thing…what are our daily rituals…what am I missing in these photos? How can I tell a complete story in just one frame?? I’ve even thought about how to best photograph someone getting ice from the ice maker. I mean, it is something we do every day so there’s that.

I noticed that I’m hardly ever in any of these pictures, and I do make up 25% of our family. So, I gathered up the tripod and remote shutter to attempt a mommy and baby photo. I figured his afternoon bottle was as good as any time since that is definitely something this boy never misses. #chubbybaby

Ft Worth Newborn Baby Photographer | January 2018 Recap

So, if you’ve been following me at all since the New Year then you are probably aware of this Ft Worth baby photographers mission to complete a Project 365. Well, I’m proud to say that I can pat myself on the back for a job well done in January 2018. I did indeed take a photo-a-day (often many more than one!) and here is my look back from the past 31 days.

I always do my storage back-ups at the first of the month, and realized that I have close to 600 personal pictures from January. Holy moly. I have a feeling I’ll be investing in yet another external hard drive this year.

In other news, my 7 month old is teething like a $*(#* the past few days, and I am totally over it. He is the cutest little booger, but teething is not for the faint of heart. I must have blocked this hell out from the first go-around. Actually, I’m starting to suspect something else might be at play, like an ear infection. I am hesitant to take him to the doctor though because of all the yucky flu germs in the waiting room, and the fact that I took him about a month ago for similar fussiness and then he was totally fine. I don’t want to be labeled THAT MOM. Creating this Project 365 collage from the past month has been a useful tool in reminding me that there are bad days (like today..and the day before) but there will be sunny days around the bend before I know it. So, not only is this a fun creative outlet for me, but it can be a useful tool for the psyche when I’m having an off-day.

Is it already week 4??? Is January almost over?? As one of your Ft Worth newborn baby photographers, I simply can’t believe it.

January has been a surprisingly busy month for my family. I was really expecting this month to be cold, dreary and kind of just drag by, but life has happened and we just keep going from one major event to the next. I guess that’s what occurs when you have young children.

Anyway, spoiler alert—this week ends with stitches so you know it’s a wild one.

Bathtime for baby. A splashy splashy mess.

We live across the street from my son’s elementary school. It has been such a blessing being able to ride bikes/walk to and from school each day. This is our daily routine, rain, shine, wind, 5 degree wind chill…etc. Thankfully this was a beautiful, 60 degree day in January and after school we decided to head to the neighborhood park instead of going straight home. Seriously, days like this one I just feel so joyous to live in a beautiful community where my kid doesn’t even have to lock up his bicycle, he is on a first name basis with both crossing guards, after school is out he is greeted by about 30 different friends also walking/riding their bikes home, and we have a park about 2 minutes down the street that he gets to play on after school with all his buddies. It is an amazing thing, and something most people will never, ever experience.
